About me

My main interest lies on understanding, and more importantly, exploiting complex systems that involves uncertainty. I have a Statistics PhD from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. I am currently working as a Data Scientist for Yahoo, where I design, build and analyze data applications used by millions of users.

Before joining Yahoo, I have been involved with economic/finance modeling. Examples are modeling within pension funds and insurance applications at Mercer Human Resource Consulting and econometric modeling to predict and better plan Brazilian tax from a government point of view at Institute of Applied Economic Research.

Building data applications fascinates me even outside of my daily work. I have a special (practical and theoretical) interest for financial and betting markets. Every penny I have is at risk, which provides a good motivation for continuous improvement of my Data Science skills. At my spare time, I like to play poker with friends, watch movies with my wife, read and take care of my daughter.
